Phosphite is an inorganic compound with the chemical formula of H3PO3. It is a white crystalline powder that is easily soluble in water and ethanol. It slowly oxidizes into orthophosphoric acid in the air and decomposes into orthophosphoric acid and phosphine when heated to 180 ºC. It is mainly used as the raw material for the manufacture of plastic stabilizer, and also for the manufacture of synthetic fibers and phosphite.
